Various filtering methods for fish tank

1. Internal filter

Advantages: The internal volume is relatively large, which can accommodate more biochemical filters.
Disadvantages: poor appearance, too much space in the fish tank, extremely unattractive, and physical and biochemical filtration efficiency is not high.

2. Bottom filter

Advantages: Strong processing capacity (large bottom sand bacteria bed), no filter can be seen outside, and the fish tank is neat and tidy.
Disadvantages: bottom sand is easy to block the inlet pipe, bottom sand is easy to short-circuit the water body and cause the filtration system to suddenly collapse; if the grass tank is added with bottom fertilizer, it will cause the bottom fertilizer to be lost.

3. Trickle filtration

Advantages: Strong processing power, highest efficiency, basically no need to maintain.
Disadvantages: The requirement of this system is that the shower is not immersed in water, which has certain technical requirements, the energy consumption is relatively high, and concealment is also a problem; and there is also the problem of carbon dioxide loss.

4. Tidal filter

Features: The biochemical efficiency is lower than the trickle flow and higher than the plug-in. The best tidal frequency is 2 minutes.
Disadvantages: The specific efficiency is greatly affected by the tide frequency, and the formation of tides requires some experience. It is not easy for the average person to master, and there is noise when draining.

5. External filter

Advantages: The external system does not occupy the space in the cylinder, and will not cause the loss of carbon dioxide.
Disadvantages: due to the problem of dissolved oxygen, which affects its biochemical filtration efficiency; the most annoying thing is that each maintenance is quite troublesome!

6. Bottom tank filtration

Advantages: The space provided for the filter material is the largest, so the processing capacity (note that it is not efficient) is the strongest.
Disadvantages: huge volume, generally need to occupy the space of the bottom cabinet of the fish tank; and the requirements for the water pump are relatively high, and the power consumption is relatively large; the water pump must be properly matched with the overflow, otherwise the water will be burned or the water pump will burn dry! Therefore, the entire system requires a high technical level.

7. Gas lift filtration

Advantages: The biochemical efficiency is very high due to the oxygenation of the filter material. At the same time, because power is an air pump, it is very energy-saving!
Disadvantages: gas lift does not have physical filtration, so it can not be used as the main filter; at the same time, it is easy to cause circular pollution of the glass ring.

8. Anti-gas lift filtration

Advantages: Because the power is changed from pneumatic to water pump, the flow rate is guaranteed; it also solves the shortcomings that gas lift has no physical filtration; because the gas and water are retrograde, the dissolved oxygen in the water body is greatly improved, and the biochemical efficiency is higher!
Disadvantages: energy consumption is higher than gas lift (because of the additional water pump)! There is also a common problem of internal filtration-taking up space in the fish tank.
