How often should the water in the fish tank be changed?

How often should the water in the fish tank be changed? How much water should I change? These are the issues that are generally discussed in the fish farming process. Why does everyone have different opinions and views on these issues? Because the water quality in each place is different, and everyone's fish farming experience is also different. Therefore, there is no official uniform standard.

First of all, about how often to change the water. The suggestion here is not to change the water within one month of using the tank. Because the first month of using the tank is a stage of water quality fluctuates relatively large. The water quality required for fish farming needs to be relatively stable, so if you frequently change the water during this month, the process of stabilizing the water quality will become very slow, which is not conducive to raising water for us, nor is it conducive to the stability of the newly-entered fish. So do not change the water within one month of using the tank. Then one month after using the tank, you can change the water once a week, or once every 10 days.

The second question is how much water should be changed each time. The issue should be decided according to the size of our fish tank. First of all, if it is a large fish tank, which is more than 60 cm, then its water quality stability is also relatively strong, and the fluctuation will not be too large, then every time the water is changed, it can be changed to 1/3. If it is a relatively small fish tank, which is 40-50 cm, or even smaller. Then its water volume is relatively small, which means that its water quality fluctuates greatly and its stability is relatively poor. Therefore, the less water is discharged, the better. It is generally recommended not to exceed 1/4.

The third question, is there any fish tank that can be used without water change? There is certainly no such fish tank that does not change the water at all. There are only fish tanks that do not need to change water for a long time. So how long is it? Everyone's view is different, some people think it is 3-4 months, some people think it is half a year or even longer. Whether to change the water or not is actually based on a principle, that is, the degree of change in the water quality of the fish tank. For example, if the density of ornamental fish in a fish tank is relatively large, but the excretion volume is relatively large. Then the frequency of water changes must be more frequent. On the contrary, if the density of the fish in the fish tank is relatively small, it is sufficient to change the water once in a long time.

Finally, no matter how busy you are, you must take a moment to change the water in your aquarium regularly, even if it is changed once a month.
